A framework for agent based simulation of demand responsive transport systems

چکیده
Demand responsive transport (DRT), such as shared mini busses are an established form of public transport. Typically, these services operate in areas where demand is low (rural areas), very specific (airport shuttles), or only for certain user groups, such as persons with disabilities. With advances in communication technologies and possible driverless operations in the future, DRT systems may become an attractive additional mode also in urban and inter-urban transport. One way to assess and evaluate such services are transport simulations. In this paper, we describe a DRT extension framework for an existing transport simulation, followed by two case studies that demonstrate the extension’s versatility.

A Study Of Multi-Agent Based Model For Urban Intelligent Transport Systems
Multi-agent based simulation has been looked as an efficient tool for large-scale system, like urban intelligent transport system. However, the main problem is how to build a multi-agent based model to simulating it. This research presents a multi-agent based demand responsive transport (DRT) services model, which adopts a multi-agents planning approach for metropolis traffic services control. ...

Demand Responsive Shared Transport (DRST) services take advantage of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), to provide “on demand” transport services booking in real time a ride on a shared vehicle. In this paper, an agent-based model (ABM) is presented to test different the feasibility of different service configurations in a real context. First results show the impact of route choi...
متن کاملTaxonomy of Global Air Transport
Data from the United Nations and the International Civil Aviation Organization Information Systems were used as a base for characterizing, classifying and comparing air transport demand and supply features of 156 countries. Relevant data from 1980 were chosen to reflect five sets of characteristics namely, air transport, 50cm-economic status, population demography, geographical and environmenta...
متن کاملAnalyzing On-demand Mobility Services by Agent-based Simulation
Widespread adoption of smartphones and ubiquitous internet connectivity gives rise to new markets for personalized and efficient on-demand mobility services. To rigorously analyze new control mechanisms for these services, we introduce an open-source agent-based simulation testbed that allows evaluating the performance of demand-responsive transport schemes. In particular, our testbed provides ...
متن کاملSimulation Approach for an Integrated Decision Support System for Demand Responsive Transport Planning and Operation
Rural areas are becoming more desert from day to day, leading to complex dispersed and scarce demand patterns for public transport. As a consequence, conventional transport services are becoming less frequent, reducing levels of service (e.g., low occupancy rates, usage of old vehicles). With rigid predefined routes and schedules, they are inappropriate to operate in such environments. Demand R...
